Pharmacist Professional Work Practice Report Pharmaceutical Industry at PT. Faratu Bekasi
Abstract
Background: Professional Pharmacist Work Practice (PKPA) is a mandatory activity for students of the Professional Pharmacist Education Study Program to understand the roles, functions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in various fields of pharmaceutical practice. One such field is the pharmaceutical industry, which requires the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines.
Objective: PKPA at PT. Faratu aims to provide prospective pharmacists with direct experience in the application of GMP in the pharmaceutical industry, understanding quality management systems, and familiarizing themselves with production activities, quality control, and resource management in an industrial environment.
Method: PKPA was conducted from February 3 to March 28, 2025 at PT. Faratu, Bekasi, for five working days each week with eight hours of work per day. Activities were carried out through observation, interviews, training, and direct involvement in production and quality control activities in various departments such as Production, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Warehouse, and Engineering.
Results: Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the implementation of quality systems in the pharmaceutical industry, production process flows, quality control of raw materials and finished products, and the importance of documentation in accordance with CPOB standards. In addition, this activity also improved their analytical, communication, and teamwork skills in a pharmaceutical industry environment.
Conclusion: Through the PKPA activity at PT. Faratu, participants were able to understand and apply CPOB principles and the role of pharmacists in ensuring drug quality in the pharmaceutical industry. This experience is an important foundation for prospective pharmacists to develop their professional competencies in the field of industrial pharmacy.
