Abstract

This research aims to find out the analysis of library material processing at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas Medan. This research used the theory of Library Material Management and Administration according to Ibrahim. The research method used qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Documentation, interviews, and observation were the methods utilized to get the data. The study's findings demonstrated that there were five markers for how library materials were processed. First, inventory was the initial activity carried out for inspection of library materials at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas Medan. Second, classification was the activity such as determining a book subject and determining the classification number. Third, cataloging such as displaying, storing, and facilitating users to be faster. Fourth, labeling or book completeness such as providing identity of library materials. Fifth, shelving such as arrangement or placement of books on the shelf. The obstacles faced in library material processing activities at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas Medan are the limited number of librarians with a library science background in understanding the technical processing of library materials according to standards, thus the limitations of facilities and infrastructure.
