This study examines the reconstruction of the Gurdwara Shree Arjun Dev Ji building in Medan from 2001 to 2014. The background of this research lies in the physical condition of the Gurdwara, established in 1953, which could no longer accommodate the growing Sikh congregation in the city, thereby creating the need for renewal. The objectives of this study are to explain the background that prompted the reconstruction in 2001, to describe the reconstruction process from 2001 to 2003, and to identify the contributions of the reconstructed Gurdwara Shree Arjun Dev Ji to the Sikh community in Medan between 2001 and 2014. This research employs historical methods with a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as interviews with informants (foundation administrators and members of the Sikh community) as well as literature studies. The findings show that the reconstruction was driven by internal factors such as limited capacity and inadequate facilities, along with external support in the form of financial assistance from the international Sikh diaspora. The reconstruction process was carried out through collective fundraising efforts and resulted in significant architectural changes, including theconstruction of a dome and the expansion of the prayer hall. Furthermore, the reconstruction contributed significantly to the Sikh community, particularly in the areas of worship, social life, education, and community services. The culmination of these contributions was the construction of a multipurpose hall in 2014, which functions as a center for social and sports activities as well as a funeral home, thereby strengthening the role of the Gurdwara as a religious, social, and cultural hub for the Sikh community in Medan.en_US
