Interaksi Etnik Jawa dengan Tamil Di Kampung Stall Kecamatan Tanjung Morawa (1990-2009)

Abstract

This study discusses the conditions and interactions between the Javanese and Tamil ethnic groups in Kampung Stall from 1990 to 2009, as well as the obstacles faced by the Javanese and Tamil ethnic groups in Kampung Stall in their daily lives. The purpose of this study is to explain the interactions between the Javanese and Tamil ethnic groups and the obstacles they face. This study uses a historical method with a qualitative approach, through data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with key informants (village heads, hamlet heads and the community in Kampung Stall) as well as literature studies. The results of the study show that the conditions and interactions between the Javanese and Tamil ethnic groups in Kampung Stall allow them to live in harmony through mutual cooperation, tolerance, and social participation of the community. The interaction is also reflected in mixed marriages, language, and joint participation in every event, as well as complementary economic interactions. Although there are economic disparities (the Tamil ethnic group mostly trades in food or does odd jobs, while the Javanese ethnic group mostly works in factories and has a more stable income), this does not cause conflict. All ethnic groups complement each other in their daily needs and maintain unity in Kampung Stall.
