This research discusses the performance and local wisdom at the firefly viewing
event in Tatsuno which has the values of passing on culture and educating to protect
the environment. The aim of this research is to describe the performance and local
wisdom at firefly viewing events in Japanese society. Theories used are local
wisdom theory according to Sedyawati, Performance Theory. The research method
used is the descriptive method according to Mukhtar and the library research
method according to Zed. The results of this research found that the performance
of the fireflies viewing festival was held in June in Tatsuno for 1-2 weeks. The
performance components of this festival are transmission, for example firefly
education and firefly viewing, composition, omikoshi performances and takeakari
decorations, audiences, participants such as mayors, artists, teachers and students,
street vendors, domestic and foreign tourists, confectionery, yukata or kimono,
Pikkari-Chan costumes, anime character cosplay, school uniforms, and casual
clothing. The local wisdom displayed at the event is related to several relationships.
For example, the relationship between humans and humans is shown by providing
education, social interaction in yatai and parades, the relationship between humans
and nature such as seeing fireflies in Tatsuno, the relationship between humans and
beliefs, this is shown by the Kudokuzan Denpukuji temple, which has blessings for
marriage.
