Analisis Penggunaan Aisatsu dalam Anime Tonari No Totoro Karya Hayao Miyazaki

Abstract

This research discusses the use of aisatsu in the anime Tonari no Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. The purpose of this study is to analyze the meaning and usage of aisatsu found in the anime Tonari no Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. This study is a qualitative research using a descriptive method. It applies a pragmatic approach as the foundation, the contextual aspects of speech events known as SPEAKING, and the concept of aisatsu as practiced in Japanese society. The data consist of verbal dialogues containing aisatsu, collected using the observation and note-taking method, and analyzed based on the theoretical framework used. The results show that aisatsu in Tonari no Totoro is used in both formal and informal contexts, such as greeting, parting, expressing gratitude, and apologizing. This study shows that aisatsu plays an important role as a bridge between language and culture. Understanding aisatsu is important for learners of Japanese in order to communicate appropriately within the cultural context and politeness norms of Japanese society.
