| dc.description.abstract | This research is about analyzing the Kyuubon tradition in Ishigaki, Okinawa, as an embodiment of preserved local wisdom. Kyuubon, an Obon celebration based on the lunar calendar, is understood as a cultural performance that integrates spiritual, social, and cultural values. The study aims to analyze the performance during the Kyuubon celebration on Nakabi day and reflect on the local wisdom values contained within it. Specifically, the uniqueness of the tradition in Ishigaki is the prominence of the Anggama ritual, a dance, music, and drama performance by the masked characters Ushumai and Nmi, which serves as a spiritual bridge and a medium for communal catharsis. Utilizing a qualitative approach and cultural ethnography methods, data were collected through observation, literature review, virtual ethnography, and a video data source from YouTube 2024 featuring the Ishanagira youth community in Ishigaki. The findings indicate that Kyuubon represents a rich cultural performance and reflects profound local wisdom values, making it not only a spiritual means but also a symbol of cultural sustainability and the identity of the Ishigaki community. | en_US |
