| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to identify the positive and negative impacts of Anime on the
members of the Medan Anime Club (MAC) in Medan City. This research employs
a qualitative descriptive method with the goal of deeply understanding the effects
of Anime on the behavior and perspectives of community members. Data were
collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were
analyzed descriptively to uncover patterns and meanings from the participants’
experiences. This study is based on the Theory of Impact. The results indicate that
Anime has a more dominant positive influence, such as enhancing creativity in art
and cosplay, broadening knowledge of Japanese culture and language, and
fostering self-confidence and social interaction skills. However, there are also
negative impacts, including consumerist behavior toward Japanese cultural
products, identity crises due to excessive attachment to Anime characters, and
media addiction that may disrupt daily routines. The conclusion of this study shows
that Anime plays a significant role in shaping the behavior, mindset, and social
identity of young people in the Medan Anime Club community. Therefore,
maintaining a balance between hobbies and real life is essential to ensure that the
influence of media remains healthy and constructive. | en_US |
