Title: The Relationship between Personal hygiene and Housing Density with the Incidence of Scabies among Students at Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Canduang, West Sumatra.Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by infestation of Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis and remains a public health problem in Islamic boarding schools. Factors associated with the incidence of scabies include personal hygiene and dormitory housing density. This study aims to determine the relationship between personal hygiene and housing density with the incidence of scabies among students at Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Canduang, West Sumatra. This research employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of all female students of Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Canduang, with a total sample of 106 respondents selected using total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and direct observation, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies (p < 0.05), as well as a significant relationship between housing density and the incidence of scabies (p < 0.05).In conclusion, better personal hygiene and lower housing density reduce the risk of scabies among students. It is recommended that the boarding school management increase health education on personal hygiene and regulate dormitory occupancy to prevent scabies transmission.
