Rancang Bangun Sistem Pendinginan Mist Spray sebagai Pre-Cooling pada Kondensor AC Split
Design Of Mist Spray Cooling System as Pre-Cooling for Split-Type Air Conditioner Condenser
Abstract
Climate change and the rising prevalence of heatwaves have increased the demand for energy-efficient air cooling technologies. Split-type air conditioners are a common solution. However, their energy consumption remains high due to the relatively elevated temperature of the air before entering the condenser. This study aims to design and develop a mist spray cooling system as pre-cooling mechanism for the condenser of split-type air conditioner to improve the system’s Coefficient of Performance (COP). The design methodology includes cooling load analysis using the Cooling Load Temperature Difference (CLTD) approach, vapor compression cycle modeling, and heat transfer calculations for the mist-based air cooling system. The CLTD analysis indicates a cooling demand of 2,47 kW. The system is designed with four nozzles of 0,1 mm diameter and a cooling zone area of 0,1674 m² with dimensions of 0,41 m × 0,408 m. The minimum fluid flow rate is 0,064 liters per minute at a pressure of 73,56 psi, with a total water capacity of 15,36 liters for 4 hours of operation. The design results show a reduction in the temperature of the air before entering the condenser by 6°C and an increase in COP up to 4,6.
