The clean water crisis can be addressed through seawater desalination processes. One promising method is the solar still, a simple distillation device that utilizes solar thermal energy. However, the efficiency of conventional solar stills is relatively low, and field testing results are often unstable due to weather variations. Therefore, this study aims to design and construct a laboratory-scale seawater distillation testing device using a double slope solar still configuration with a controlled temperature system, enabling stable and measurable testing conditions. The basin water temperature is maintained at 45–55°C using an electric heating element (heater) controlled by a dimmer, while the glass temperature is regulated at 25°C using a water-cooling system. The design was developed using CAD software, resulting in a device with a basin area of 0.765 mm × 0.475 mm and a total fabrication cost of IDR 3,640,000.00. This prototype serves as a laboratory simulator for validating heat and mass transfer models and as an educational medium for the solar still desalination process.en_US
