Healing of Teeth Extraction Wounds in Hypoalbuminemic Rats After Administration of Intra-Socket Protein Gummy Made from Albumin, Nanocollagen, Chicken Gelatin Concentrations of 25:10:30 and 35:15:30
Abstract
Hypoalbuminemia is body condition where there is a lack of albumin levels in the
blood, characterized by albumin levels <3.5 g/dL. Hypoalbuminemia can prolog
wound healing time, necessitating additional albumin from food or supplements.
Albumin can be obtained from free-range chicken eggs. Collagen also accelerating
wound healing and can be obtained from broiler chicken leg bones. The aim of this
research is to analyze the optimal formulation of intra-socket protein gummy made
from albumin, nanocollagen, and gelatin at concentrations of 25:10:30 and 35:15:30
on the healing time of tooth extraction wounds and the formation of fibroblast cells in
rats models of hypoalbuminemia. Albumin is extracted from chicken eggs using the
dialysis method, while nanocollagen and gelatin are extracted from broiler chicken
feet using the soaking method. This research used 24 Gallur Wistar rats (Rattus
norvegicus) which were fed a low protein diet for 14 days. Wound healing time was
measured by assessing signs of inflammation which were observed every 2 days for 14
days and measuring the number of fibroblasts using histopathological examination.
The mean results and standard deviation of wound healing time for groups I, II, and
III were 13 ± 2.44 days, 6±0 days, and 8.67 ± 3.26. Based on histopathological
interpretation, the mean and standard deviation of the number of fibroblast cells for
groups I, II, and III were 7.17 ± 9.86, 22.33 ± 13.15, and 13.67 ± 12,5. It can be
concluded that intra-socket protein gummy (25%:10%:30%) can accelerate wound
healing after tooth extraction in hypoalbuminemia model rats.
