    Abstract
    Introduction. Formaldehyde (H₂CO), a prevalent chemical in many occupational and domestic settings, is widely recognized for inducing oxidative stress. This process is heavily linked to reproductive harm and diminished sperm quality such as concentration and motility in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). Objective. This study aims to determine the effect of graduated doses of inhaled formaldehyde on the sperm quality of Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus), including concentration and motility. Methods. This research used a true experimental design (post-test only control group) for 30 days. Twenty-four male rats were segregated into a control group that did not inhale 40% formaldehyde (0 mL) and three treatment groups inhaling 40% formaldehyde (0.025 mL, 0.125 mL, and 0.25 mL) for eight hours daily. Following the exposure period, sperm samples from the cauda epididymis were evaluated via microscopy and a hemocytometer. Results and Discussion. Statistical analysis results showed no relationship between inhaled formaldehyde and sperm concentration (ANOVA test, p>0.05). However, this study found a relationship between inhaled formaldehyde and sperm motility (Kruskal-Wallis test, p<0.05). Significant Post Hoc tests (p<0.05) revealed a significant difference between the control group and treatment group one (K1). Conclusion. There is no relationship between inhaled formaldehyde and sperm concentration, but there is a relationship between inhaled formaldehyde and a decrease in sperm motility.
