    Abstract
When cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) nerve tissue damage occurs, specific cytokines are produced from the glial cells of the nerves. One study has shown that IL-1β is involved in the early course of ischemic injury to the spinal cord. This study aims to analyse changes in IL-1β expression in CSM. Method: Laboratory experimental analytical test research on experimental animals was conducted for 1 month. The research was carried out in the Biochemistry-Biomolecular Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, for the animal intervention staging, immunohistochemical staining, and cell morphology examination. Processing and cutting of paraffin blocks were carried out at the Laboratory of Anatomical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya. Data were then collected and analyzed, with a p value <0.05 considered significant. Result: Thirty rabbits were divided into three groups: a control group and two intervention groups. An inflammatory process was found in the spinal cord in the first and second intervention groups. In addition, it was found that progressive chronic compression of the spinal cord increased IL-1β expression. There was a significant difference in the average expression of IL-1β among the three study groups (p value <0.001). Conclusion: There was a significant difference in IL-1β levels in the spinal cord of experimental animal models on the 7th and 21st days.
