Introduction. Obesity and hypertension in adolescents are increasingly alarming public health problems, both at global and national levels. According to the WHO, the number of children and adolescents aged 5–19 years who are overweight (including obesity) continues to increase sharply. Objective. This study aims to determine the relationship between fast food consumption and the occurrence of obesity and increased blood pressure. Method. The research was conducted analytically using a cross-sectional study design. The study sample consisted of grade VIII and IX students from SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were selected using a probability sampling method with the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Research data were collected through interviews with subjects regarding the frequency of fast food consumption and anthropometric measurements to assess weight, height, and body mass index (BMI). Results. The prevalence of obesity among grade VIII and IX students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Medan was 16.7%. Frequent fast food consumption accounted for 82.1%. The results of statistical calculations using the Fisher's Exact test showed no relationship between fast food consumption and obesity (p=0.557). Regarding increased blood pressure, there was no relationship between energy intake and obesity (p=0.384).Conclusion. There is no relationship between the frequency of fast food consumption and obesity and increased blood pressure.en_US
