The quality of crude palm oil (CPO) in Indonesia is determined by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 2901-2021). The CPO processing industry and its derivatives contribute significantly to state revenue. Low CPO quality is caused by fresh fruit bunches as raw materials or overripe fruit. The quality of CPO at each stage of processing in a palm oil mill will vary, as will the addition of oil quotations/losses in the recovery tank, which affects the stability of CPO quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of CPO received as raw material, CST, and storage tanks at the Danau Biru Mill palm oil mill in South Kalimantan.
This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design with CPO source factors and sampling points at raw material reception, CST, and storage tanks for 31 days. The CPO quality analyzed included impurity content, moisture content, free fatty acid content, DOBI, and beta-carotene. The results showed that the impurity content in raw material reception was 0.026±0.015%, CST was 0.39±0.04%, and storage tank was 0.023±0.00%. The moisture content of raw material reception was 0.25±0.04%, CST 0.039±0.01%, and storage tank 0.26±0.04%. The free fatty acid content in raw material reception was 3.15±0.59%, CST 2.93±0.49%, and storage tank 2.35±0.26%. DOBI value at raw material reception was 2.63±0.37, CST 2.44±0.13, storage tank 2.30±0.08, and beta-carotene value at raw material reception was 552.12±48.19 ppm, CST 525.03±15.22 ppm, storage tank 517.52±9.08 ppm.
