    Abstract

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor derived from epithelial nasofaring. NPC is radiosensitive and curable in its early stages. Due to the anatomical location constraints and the nature of high radiosensitive tumors, advanced stage tumor given the combination treatment of chemoradiotherapy. It results can be viewed from two aspects of response or loss and survival of cancer patients. Aim: To examine the relation about response rate of postchemoradiotherapy patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in RSUP H. Adam Malik Hospital Years 2014 – 2016. Methods: Analytic study with cross sectional design. Subjects of the study were 109 NPC patients who had met the inclusion criteria, to assess the response rate of NPC patients who had undergone chemoradiotherapy treatment. Results: Most of post chemoradiotherapy nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients at RSUP H. Adam Malik that had partial response rate were 69 patients (63,3%), and the least progressive response rate were 5 patients (4,6%). A significant relationship was found between the response rate of undifferentiated type nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients to tumor stage (P = 0.004, P <0.05).
