A Description of Leading Character’s Conflicts in Gayle Forman’s Novel "If I Stay"

Abstract

The title of this paper is A Description Of Leading Character’s Conflicts In Gayle Forman’s Novel "If I Stay" which is a kind of Mia’s conflict in her life. The conflict is devided into two such as Mia’s internal conflict and Mia external conflict. In this paper explain that conflict can occur because of the choice that cannot be fulfilled, where Mia is trapped between life and death because of the accident and her family was died. Only she the only one who lived and lying in comma at the hospital. As for the method used in describing the problem in this paper is library research. The results of description, the author get conclusion that Mia’s conflict is she trapped between choosing two heavy choices, between living without her warm family or dying and leaving her lover, Adam.

Skripsi ini berjudul A Description Of Leading Character’s Conflicts In Gayle Forman’s Novel "If I Stay" yang merupakan suatu pembahasan mengenai konflik dalam kehidupan Mia Hall. Dimana konfliknya tersebut terbagi menjadi dua bagian, yaitu Mia’s internal conflict, and Mia’s external conflict. Disini dijelaskan bahwa konflik itu bisa terjadi karena adanya pilihan yang tidak dapat terpenuhi, dimana Mia terjebak antara hidup dan mati karena kecelakaan yang dialaminya dan menyebabkan seluruh anggota keluarganya meninggal. Hanya dia satu-satunya yang hidup dan terbaring koma di rumah sakit. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam mendeskripsikan masalah dalam paper ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan. Dari hasil deskripsi, penulis memperoleh kesimpulan bahwa Mia konflik adalah dia terjebak antara memilih dua pilihan yang sangat berat, antara hidup tanpa keluarganya yang hangat atau sekarat dan meninggalkan kekasihnya, Adam.
