A Description of The Main Character in Elizabeth Rudnicknovel “Beauty and The Beast”

Abstract

Character is one of the most important elements in a fictional story and one of them is novel. The characters are divided into two types, there are main characters and minor characters. This paper is entitled “A Description of Characters In Elizabeth Rudnick Novel Beauty and The Beast”. The paper is discuss about the main characters personalities that exist in the novel. The main characters have different personalities that interesting to be discussed. The method of the writer used in this paper is The library research by reading novels. Then, he found information about the data from the novel, and the last, to describe the quote. The result of this study is the description of the main character (protagonist). Belle is a cheerful and passionate girl. Belle's figure has an adventurous and always curious spirit, making herself an independent girl and firm and minor character (antagonist) Beast is a handsome prince but he grew into a prideful and selfish prince, who made himself cursed to be ugly and imprisoned in his own Castle.

Karakter adalah salah satu elemen terpenting dalam cerita fiksi dan salah satunya adalah novel. Karakter dibagi menjadi dua jenis, ada karakter utama dan karakter minor. Kertas karya ini berjudul "A Description of Characters in Elizabeth Rudnick Novel Beauty and The Beast". Kertas karya ini membahas tentang tokoh-tokoh kepribadian utama yang ada dalam novel. Karakter utama memiliki kepribadian berbeda yang menarik untuk dibahas. Metode yang digunakan penulis dalam makalah ini adalah Penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan membaca novel. Kemudian, menemukan informasi tentang data dari novel tersebut, dan yang terakhir, dengan mendeskripsikan kutipan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah deskripsi karakter utama (protagonis). Belle adalah gadis ceria dan penuh gairah. Sosok Belle memiliki jiwa petualang dan selalu ingin tahu, membuat dirinya seorang gadis mandiri dan karakter tegas dan kecil (antagonis) Beast adalah pangeran yang tampan tetapi ia tumbuh menjadi pangeran yang sombong dan egois, yang membuat dirinya dikutuk untuk menjadi jelek dan dipenjara di dalam dirinya sendiri Kastil.
