cloudy. Cataract is one of the causes of blindness in the world. The prevalence of cataracts in
Indonesia according to the results of examination of enumerator officers in Riskesdas 2013 was
1.8%, the highest in North Sulawesi Province at 3.7% and the lowest in DKI Jakarta at 0.9%.
While the prevalence of cataracts in North Sumatra province is 1.4%.Cataracts can only be cured
by surgery, but most of the population with cataracts in Indonesia have not yet undergone cataract
surgery because of the ignorance of the sufferers regarding cataracts and they do not know that
cataract blindness can be operated / rehabilitated. The second biggest reason for cataract patients
who have not been operated on is because they cannot finance their operations. Objectives: This
study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes toward cataract surgery
in cataract patients at Rumah Sakit Mata Prima Vision. Method: This research was descriptive
with cross sectional design. The sample in this study was taken by consecutive sampling technique,
calculated using a formula and randomly selected as many as 46 samples. Result: From the
number of respondents as many as 46 people obtained a level of knowledge of cataracts and good
cataract surgery as much as 56.5% and the level of attitudes towards cataracts and good cataract
surgery were 69.6%. Conclusion: It was found that the level of knowledge and attitudes towards
