    Hubungan Merokok dengan Fungsi Penghidu Menggunakan Sniffin’ Sticks Test

    Abstract
    Latar Belakang: Merokok merupakan faktor risiko untuk terjadinya disfungsi gangguan penghidu. Banyak penelitian yang menduga adanya efek samping merokok pada kemampuan menghidu. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan merokok dengan fungsi penghidu di Departemen T.H.T.K.L FK USU/RSUP Haji Adam Malik Medan. Metode: Penelitian analitik dengan metode potong lintang. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 45 orang yang telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi, untuk menilai ADI penghidu pada perokok menggunakan pemeriksaan Sniffin’ sticks extended test. Hasil: Dari 45 perokok, proporsi gangguan penghidu adalah 35,6% sedangkan sebanyak 64,4% tidak mengalami gangguan penghidu. Rerata ADI adalah 30,79 dengan rerata terendah 22,12 dan tertinggi 40. Kesimpulan: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan (p<0,05) antara jumlah konsumsi rokok per hari dengan gangguan penghidu serta lama merokok dengan gangguan penghidu
     
    Background: Smoking is a risk factor for the smell function disorder. Many researches suspected that there were side effects of smoking on the ability to sniff. Objective: : To determine the correlation between smoking and olfactory function in ENT Department Haji Adam Malik Hospital Methods: Analytic study with cross-sectional method. The research subjects were 45 people who fulfilled inclusion criteria, to assess the TDI in smokers using the Sniffin’ sticks extended test. Results: Of the 45 smokers, the proportion of olfactory dysfunction was 35.6% while 64,4% did not suffer from olfactory dysfunction. The TDI score average was 30.79 with the lowest score average of 22.12 and the highest of 40. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate a significant correlation (p <0.05) between the number of sticks per day and the number of years smoking with olfactory dysfunction.
