    A Dissociative Disorder in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Novelist Undercover: Comparative Literature Analysis

    Abstract
    This thesis entitled “A Dissociative Disorder in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde And Novelist Undercover: Comparative Literature Analysis”. The writer interested in analyzing the two novels because they have same motive is dissociative disorder. In this thesis the writer uses two novels as the object, there are The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) from England and Novelist Undercover (2014) from Indonesia. Dissociative disorder is the condition involve a range of disorders involving emotions, such as anxiety and stress that have varying degrees of disturbance and impact on a person’s life. Dissociative disorder is far more extreme, involving anxiety or conflict so severe that part of the individual’s personality actually separates from the rest of his or her conscious functioning. Dissociative disorder in both of the novel are multiple personality and violence, and the causes of dissociative disorder in both of the novel are ambition, environmental influences, knowledge and science. The writer uses Carl Jung theory Personal unconscious and Collective unconscious to discuss the kind of dissociative disorder related to psychology. The writer also uses a descriptive qualitative method and the library research so that the similarities and differences both of the novel can be found.
