    Abstract
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Patients Stable (COPD) is an airway obstruction disease with a clinical picture of shortness of breath that is influenced by oxidative stress factors, marking the state of oxidative stress using levels of malondialdehyde (MDA). Non-pharmacological interventions that can be given for COPD sufferers are diaphragmatic breathing exercises, which can increase the workings of diaphragm muscles, reduce oxidative stress and reduce the scale of shortness of breath due to airway obstruction. The research design used was an experimental pretest-posttest with control, against 34 subjects with a comparison of each group 17:17. The inclusion criteria in this study were men, aged 40-80 years, getting treatment from a pulmonary specialist, stable condition 4 weeks before the study and getting standard treatment, while the exclusion criteria were diabetic mellitus (DM), did not have another lung disease / post tuberculosis (TB), refused to intervene and do not follow complete research procedures. Analysis of the influence between variables used the mann-whitney test. From the results of statistical analysis, there was a significant difference in the decrease in shortness of breath scale (p = 0,000) and there was no significant difference in the decrease in plasma MDA levels in patients with stable COPD.
