Affective Meaning in Marianna Pascal‟S Speech

Abstract

Tesis ini berjudul "Makna Afektif dalam Pidato Marianna Pascal". Tesis ini membahas tentang penerapan makna afektif yang ditemukan penulis dalam Pidato Marianna Pascal. Threre adalah aspek positif dan negatif yang penulis temukan dalam pidato, salah satu contoh tentang penekanan yang dilakukan Mariana Pascal untuk memengaruhi pendengar. Tesis ini menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan yang mengambil data dari youtube dan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif di dalamnya. Dari pidato tersebut, ada 9 (sembilan) ucapan yang memiliki makna afektif terdiri dari kata-kata positif dan negatif. Selain itu, yang terpenting dalam komunikasi adalah fokus pada kata pendengar dan apa yang ingin kita capai. Pembicara menerapkan makna afektif untuk pendengar sehingga mereka dapat berbicara bahasa Inggris tanpa merasa takut.

This thesis entitled “Affective Meaning in Marianna Pascal‟s Speech”. This thesis discusses about the application of affective meaning that the writer found in Marianna Pascal‟s Speech. Threre are positive and negative aspects that the writer found in the speech, one example about the emphasize that Mariana Pascal do to influence the listener. This thesis uses library research which take the data from you tube and use descriptive qualitative method in it. From the speech, there are 9 (nine) utterances that have affective meaning consist of positive and negative words. Besides that, the main important in communication is focused on the listener said and what we want to achieve. The speaker applied the affective meaning to take effect from the listener so that they can speak English without feel some dreads.
