A Description of Plot Used in Jojo Moyes’ Novel Me Before You

Abstract

Plot is the sequence of events in a story. The plot is planned, logical series of events and has a beginning, middle, and an end. There are five essential parts of the plot; Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution. This paper is entitled A Description of Plot Used in Jojo Moyes’ Novel Me Before You. This novel is about a disability man which falls in love with his caregiver. But the man decides to end his life with Dignitas because he can’t live on the wheelchair forever. The girl looks for the way to changes his plan, but fail. The man death but he prepares something for her and asks her to live well. In this research the writer uses qualitative description method to describe the plot which is presented in the novel.

Plot merupakan urutan kejadian atau peristiwa dalam sebuah cerita. Plot biasanya sudah direncanakan, bagian yang logis dalam suatu kejadian yang memiliki awal, pertengahan, dan akhir. Cerita pendek biasanya memiliki awal, pertengahan, akhir. Cerita pendek biasanya memiliki satu plot yang bisa dibaca dalam satu kedudukan. Ada 5 bagian yang penting dalam plot; Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, dan Resolution. Kertas karya ini berjudul The Description of Plot used in Jojo Moyes’ Novel Me Before You. Dalam novel ini dikisahkan tentang seorang pria lumpuh yang jatuh cinta kepada perawat nya. Tetapi pria tersebut memutuskan untuk mengakhiri hidupnya dengan Dignitas karena dia merasa tidak bisa hidup selamanya di atas kursi roda selamanya. Wanita tersebut mencari cara agar dapat merubah keputusannya tetapi gagal. Pria tersebut akhirnya meninggal tetapi dia menyiapkan sesuatu untuk wanita tersebut dan meminta nya untuk hidup lah dengan baik. Dalam penelitioan ini penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menggambarkan plot yang sudah tersaji dalam novel tersebut
