Struktur Upacara Perkawinan Suku Batak Karo dengan Suku Hokkian di Medan Satu Kajian Komparatif

Abstract

This research entitled “STRUKTUR UPACARA PERKAWINAN SUKU BATAK KARO DENGAN SUKU HOKKIAN DI MEDAN SATU KAJIAN KOMPARATIF”. The researcher interest to study the structure of wedding ceremony of Batak karo and Hokkian ethnics because both of ethnics assume that wedding ceremony is a sacred ceremony and did not only bind a kinship between the bride and bridegroom ‘s families but also to build a relationship between the kinship of the bride and bridegroom. The wedding ceremony in Batak karo and Hokkian ethnics has any steps, process and need a long time and involves more people in its implementation. In this research, the researcher will study the structure of wedding ceremony in Batak Karo and Hokkian ethnics in addition to see the similarity and different of the wedding ceremony between both of ethnics. The applied theory in this research is a ceremony and comparative studies. The applied method in this research is a descriptive method by qualitative approach. In the results of this research, the researcher will describe the structure of ceremony in Batak Karo and Hokkian ethnics and describe the similarity and difference of ceremony structure in both of ethnics.
