Etos Kerja pada Bisnis Masyarakat Tionghoa di Kelurahan Tanjung Rejo

Abstract

Etos kerja ialah semangat kerja yang menjadi ciri khas dan kenyakinan seseorang atau sekelompok masyarakat. Ciri khas dalam bekerja juga ditunjukkan oleh pedagang Tionghoa di kelurahan Tanjung Rejo. Semangat bekerja dan wirausaha mandiri mampu menghidupi kehidupan yang layak, serta lepas dari ketergantungan pemerintah. Hal inilah yang melatarbelakangi penulis memilih etos kerja pada bisnis masyarakat Tionghoa di kelurahan Tanjung Rejo sebagai objek penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui bagaimana etos kerja etnis Tionghoa di kelurahan Tanjung Rejo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif (observasi dan wawancara) dan memaparkannya dengan deskriptif analisis fenomenologis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka dapat diketahui bahwa etos kerja pada bisnis masyarakat Tionghoa di kelurahan Tanjung Rejo telah membudaya dari nenek monyang mereka secara turun temurun. Adapun ciri-ciri etos kerja pedagang Tionghoa meliputi kerja keras, didikan sejak dini, meningkatkan investasi, pelayanan yang baik, bersaing sehat, hemat, memelihara relasi, disiplin, jujur serta bertanggung jawab.

Work ethic is a work spirit that is a characteristic and belief of a person or group of people. The characteristics of work are also shown by Chinese traders in the Tanjung Rejo village. The spirit of work and independent entrepreneurs are able to live a decent life, and escape the dependence of the government. This is the background of the author's choice of work ethic in Chinese business in Medan as the object of research. The purpose of this study was to find out how the ethnic ethos of Chinese work in the village of Tanjung Rejo. This study uses a qualitative approach (observation and interview) and describes it with descriptive phenomenological analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the work ethic in the business of the Chinese community in the village of Tanjung Rejo has been entrenched from their ancestors for generations. The characteristics of the work ethic of Chinese traders include hard work, upbringing from an early age, increasing investment, good service, healthy competition, frugality, maintaining relationships, discipline, honesty and responsibility.
