Abstract

The study aims to determine the characteristics of fragrant root oils (Vetiveria zizainoides) to be exported to meet the requirements set forth in the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Characterization of fragrant root oil on this research conducted according to SNI 06-2386-2006 with quality test parameters namely: condition (color and smell), type weights, index bias, solubility in Acid number, and ester number. The results showed that fragrant root oil has a color of brown independence, a distinctive smell of fragrant roots, type weights with a value of 0.9891, a bias index with a value of 1.525, solubility in ethanol 95% with a value of 1:1, clear, next clear, acid number With a value of 31.07 and a number of Esther with a value of 12.66. The requirement specified in SNI 06-2386-2006 is to have a light yellow color – reddish brown, typical smell of fragrant root oil; Weight of the type with a value of 0.980 – 1.003; Refractive index with values 1.520 – 1.530; Solubility in ethanol 95% with a value of 1:1 clear, so clear; Acid number with a value of 10-35; And the number of Esther with the value 5-26. Fragrant root oil on this research shows the characteristics that meet the requirements set out in SNI 06-2386-2006.

Minyak akar wangi merupakan komoditas yang relatif besar peranannya dalam hubungan dengan devisa yang diraih dari hasil ekspor minyak atsiri secara keseluruhan. Volume serta nilai ekspor minyak akar wangi selalu berfluktuasi dari tahun ke tahun. Minyak akar wangi dikenal sebagai minyak atsiri paling baik untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku kosmetik, parfum dan sebagai bahan pewangi sabun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik dari minyak akar wangi (Vetiveria zizainoides) yang akan diekspor memenuhi persyaratan yang ditetapkan dalam Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI). Sampel yang digunakan adalah minyak akar wangi yang diproduksi oleh PT. K. Karakterisasi minyak akar wangi pada penelitian ini dilakukan menurut SNI 06-2386-2006 dengan parameter uji mutu yaitu :keadaan (warna dan bau), bobot jenis, indeks bias, kelarutan dalam etanol, bilangan asam, dan bilangan ester. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minyak akar wangi memiliki warna coklat kemerarahan, bau khas akar wangi, bobot jenis dengan nilai 0,9891, indeks bias dengan nilai 1,525, kelarutan dalam etanol 95% dengan nilai 1:1, jernih, seterusnya jernih, bilangan asam dengan nilai 31,07 dan bilangan ester dengan nilai 12,66. Persyaratan yang di tentukan SNI 06-2386-2006 adalah memiliki warna kuning muda – coklat kemerahan, bau khas minyak akar wangi; bobot jenis dengan nilai 0,980 – 1,003; indeks bias dengan nilai 1,520 – 1,530; kelarutan dalam etanol 95% dengan nilai 1:1 jernih, seterusnya jernih; bilangan asam dengan nilai 10-35; dan bilangan ester dengan nilai 5-26. Minyak akar wangi pada penelitian ini menunjukkan karakteristik yang memenuhi persyaratan yang ditetapkan dalam SNI 06-2386-2006.
