    Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence Trade Interaction of North Sumatra. The analytical model used in this study is the Gravity Model with export destination countries (Malaysia and Singapore) and uses time series data during the 1983-2016 period. Estimation results show that North Sumatra Exports have no effect on North Sumatra Trade Interactions. While the exchange rates and GDP of Malaysia and Singapore have a positive and significant effect on North Sumatra Trade Interactions. From the impulse response analysis, there is a difference in response between North Sumatra's trade interaction with Malaysia and North Sumatra's trade interaction with Singapore. While the results of the analysis of variance decomposition stated that North Sumatra exports to Malaysia / Singapore were the largest prediction variables in explaining North Sumatra's trade interactions to Malaysia / Singapore.
