an Associative Meaning in Red Hot Chilli Peppers Song Lyric

Abstract

This thesis entitled ―An Associative Meanings in Red Hot Chilli Peppers Song lyric‖. It is a study about the analysis of types of associative meaning found in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers song lyric. The aims of this research are (i) to identify the types of associative meaning found in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and (ii) to describe the meaning of those associative meanings. Source of data of this research was a lyric of Red Hot Chilli Peppers song entitled ―Soul To Squeeze‖ accessed from google on website www.genius.com/Red-hot-chili-peppers-soul-to-squeeze-lyrics. The data of this research were the phrases, clauses, and sentences containing of the associative meanings found in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers song lyric. Descriptive qualitative method was used in this research as the method of research. Documentation method is used in this research as the data collecting method. The theory of this research was the theory proposed by Leech (1974). The analysis technique of this research was the method proposed by Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014). The meanings of the types of associative meaning found in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers song lyric are different and various according to the context, but the things that have to be noticed is that the author of the lyric constructs the associative meanings (connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning, reflective meaning and collocative meaning) in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers song lyrics is to attract, give the special sense and curiosity to the readers so that they will be more attracted.

Skripsi ini berjudul ”Makna Assosiatif pada lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers‟ skripsi ini membahas tentang analisis tipe makna asosiatif yang ditemukan dalam lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers beserta maknanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (i) untuk mengidentifikasi tipe-tipe makna asosiatif yang ditemukan pada lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers dan (ii) menjabarkan makna dari contoh makna asosiatif tersebut. Sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers yang berjudul “Soul To Squeeze” diakses melalui google pada situs www.genius.com/Red-hot-chili-peppers-soul-to-squeeze-lyrics. Data dari penelitian ini adalah prasa-prasa, klausa-klausa, dan kalimat-kalimat yang mengandung makna asosiatif yang ditemukan pada lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Metode deskriptif kualitatif merupakan metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode dokumentasi dan teknik menganalisis data menggunakan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Miles, Huberman dan Saldana (2014). Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori yang dikemukakan oleh Leech (1974). Setiap makna dari tipe-tipe makna yang ditemukan dalam lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers tersebut berbeda dan beragam tergantung konteks, hal-hal yang harus diperhatikan yakni bahwa penulis dari lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers menyusun makna asosiatif (makna konotatif, makna reflektif, makna afektif, makna stilistika dan makna kolokatif) pada lirik lagu Red Hot Chilli Peppers tersebut untuk menarik, memberikan rasa khusus dan keingintahuan para pembaca sehingga mereka akan tertarik.
