    Analysis of Errors in Consecutive Interpreting: A Case of Jessica Kumalawongso’s Court

    Abstract
    There are two objectives of the study. First, to analyze the main types of errors found in consecutive interpreting in Jessica Kumalawongso‘s court. Second, to find out the causes of the errors in consecutive interpreting in Jessica Kumalawongso‘s court.The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data taken from Kompas TV on YouTube(2016). The data analysed are the three videos ofexplanation of Jessica's attorney, toxicologist and forensic pathologist with an interpreter toward the public prosecutor in the courtroom. It classified into source language and target language with analyzing the type of error. Also finding the main types and subtypes errors found in consecutive interpreting in Jessica Kumalawongso‘s court. The theory used is Gonzales (1996). The result of this study are: there are 67 errors with six from eight main types of errors based on theory of Gonzales in consecutive interpreting at the first until third video of Jessica Kumalawongso‘s court. The six main types of errors consisted of non-conservation of paralinguistic features, inadequate language proficiency, addition, omission, distortion and register conservation.
