Pengaruh Eklektisisme pada Bangunan Mesjid (Studi Kasus: Mesjid Raya Baiturrahman Kota Banda Aceh)

Abstract

In the Dutch colonial era, Aceh experienced cultural shift in which Aceh was subject to scorching-earth policy and was redeveloped. Masjid Raya (the Chief Mosque) Baturrahman, Banda Aceh, was the architectural performance of Dutch Colonialist. The result of the previous study revealed that its building is an eclectic style mixed with the best elements of various architectural styles. The objective of the research was to find out the influence of” eclecticism in the construction of the Mosque. The research used descriptive qualitative –comparative method by describing building visual elements and comparing them with colonial architectural theory, Acehnese traditional architectural theory, and Islamic architectural theory. The result of visual element analysis in the building showed that the Islamic architectural style was dominantly influenced the mosque, the influence of Acehnese traditional architectural style was on its wall ornaments, the influence colonial architectural style was seen in the form of symmetrical floor plan. The conclusion was that the combination of the architectural styles was the eclecticism which influenced the building of Masjid Raya Baiturrahman.

Pada masa kolonial Belanda, Aceh mengalami pergeseran kejayaanya, di mana Belanda membumihanguskan kerajaan Aceh dan kemudian membangun kembali Aceh yang baru. Masjid Raya Baiturrahman Kota Banda Aceh saat ini merupakan hasil karya arsitektur di masa kolonial Belanda. Dari hasil penelitian sebelumnya, para ahli menyebutkan bahwa bangunan Masjid Raya Baiturrahman bergaya arsitektur eklektik, yaitu percampuran unsur-unsur terbaik dari berbagai gaya arsitektur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan pengaruh eklektisisme pada bangunan Masjid Raya Baiturrahman. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif-komparatif yaitu dengan mendeskripsikan elemen-elemen visual bangunan kemudian membandingkan dengan pendekatan teori arsitektur kolonial, teori arsitektur tradisional Aceh dan teori arsitektur Islam. Dari hasil analisis elemen visual pada bangunan tersebut ditemukan gaya arsitektur Islam dominan mempengaruhi masjid, pengaruh gaya arsitektur tradisional Aceh tampak pada ornamen dinding, dan pengaruh gaya arsitektur kolonial terlihat pada bentuk denah yang simetris. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa perpaduan unsur-unsur gaya arsitektur tersebut merupakan eklektisisme yang mempengaruhi bangunan Masjid Raya Baiturrahman.
