    Abstract
    This thesis is entitled ―An Analysis of Illocutionary Acts Used in Dr. Zakir Naik’s Speech "Why We Were Created To Be Human?". The purposes of this thesis are to find out the kinds and functions of illocutionary acts on Searle's theory. Illocutionary acts classified into: Assertive, Directive, Commissive, Expressive, and Declarative. The research method used is qualitative method. The data of this research are very utterences in the speech that contain the illocutionary acts. It was found that four classifications of illocutionary acts in the speech with each percentage; they are: Assertive (57.36%), directive (22.96%), commissive (11.76%) and expressive (8 , 82%). The functions of illocutionary acts are also found. Assertive has describing, stating, informing, explaining, convincing, and analogizing. Directive has commanding, suggesting, warning, and questioning. Commissive has offering and hoping. Expressive has thanking, apologizing, and saluting.
     
    Skripsi ini berjudul An Analysis Of Illocutionary Acts Used In Dr. Zakir Naik’s Speech “Why We Were Created To Be Human?”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan tindak ilokasi berdasarkan teori Searle. Tindak ilokusi dapat diklasifikasikan kedalam: Asertif, Direktif, Komisif, Ekspresif, dan Deklaratif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah setiap ujaran yang terdapat dalam pidato yang mengandung tindak ilokasi. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, presentase dari ke-empat klasifikasi tindak ilokasi yang terdapat di dalam pidato adalah sebagai berikut: Asertif (57.36%), direktif (22,96%), komisif (11.76%) dan ekspresif(8.82%). Fungsi dari tindak ilokusi juga ditemukan. Asertif memiliki menggambarkan, menyatakan, menginformasikan, menjelaskan, dan meyakinkan. Direktif memiliki memerintah, menyarankan, memperingatkan, dan mempertanyakan. Komisif memiliki menawarkan dan mengharapkan. Ekspresif memiliki ucapan terima kasih, permintaan maaf, dan penghormatan.
