    Abstract
At present, the agglomeration region MEBIDANGRO has a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system namely Trans MEBIDANG. However in reality the mass transportation system is not operating to its optimum potential, one of the reason being the system not catering to southwest of Medan City which is centered at the Pancurbatu Sub-district and Deli Serdang Regency. The first step in this research is to find the most optimal route to travel to the southwest of Medan City. In finding the most optimal route, this research was assisted by the PTV software. Vissim 10.0 (student version). After the prime route to the southwest course is achieved, the route is then tested to discover the preference of the society in a study area. Statistical tests with binomial logit modeling will be held to find the preference of the local people. Based on the binomial logit analysis to identify the optimal route to the southwest course, it was found that 86.747 % (2,175 respondents) prefer to commute using the BRT Trans MEBIDANG if the transportation cost is Rp. 12 000. Furthermore, 96.395% (2,410 respondents) will also commute with BRT Trans MEBIDANG if the interim is 8 (eight) minutes, and lastly 62,547% (1,564 respondents) if the travel time is 40 (forty) minutes.
