dc.description.abstractBackground : Intracranial tumors can release angiogenic factors and inflammatory mediators that can cause vasogenic edema. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid that is commonly used to treat edema in intracranial tumors. Although beneficial, dexamethasone can affect platelet, leucocyte levels and rasio of neutrophil lymphocyte (RNL). Objective : To determine the effect of dexamethasone administration on platelet, leucocyte and RNL levels in intracranial tumor patients. Methods : This study used a quasi-experimental models of the 37 intracranial tumor patients, who were recruited consecutively. The diagnosis of brain tumor was based on head CT with contrass. All respondents were given dexamethasone therapy, platelet, leucocyte and RNL levels were measured before and 4 days after dexamethasone treatment Result : Of the 37 intracranial tumor patients, the mean age of 51.81 ± 11.49 years, the majority of male subjects were 19 people (51.4%). The majority of tumors (67.6%) were metastatic tumors with the most metastases originating from the lungs (40.5%). There were significant differences in platelet levels, leucocyte levels and RNL before and after administration of dexamethasone injection in intracranial tumor patients (p <0.05). Conclusion : Administration of dexamethasone in patients with intracranial tumor influence the platelets, leukocytes and RNL levels.en_US
dc.description.abstractLatar Belakang: Tumor intrakranial dapat melepaskan faktor angiogenik dan mediator inflamasi yang dapat menyebabkan edema vasogenik. Deksametason merupakan glukokortikoid yang umum digunakan untuk mengatasi edema pada tumor intrakranial. Meskipun bermanfaat, deksametason dapat mempengaruhi kadar trombosit, leukosit dan rasio neutrofil limfosit (RNL). Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian deksametason terhadap kadar trombosit, leukosit dan RNL pada pasien tumor intrakranial. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan model quasi experimental study terhadap 37 pasien tumor intrakranial, yang direkrut secara konsekutif. Diagnosis tumor intrakranial didasarkan pada CT sken kepala kontras. Seluruh pasien diberikan terapi deksametason, dan kadar trombosit, leukosit dan RNL diukur sebelum dan 4 hari setelah pengobatan deksametason. Hasil Penelitian: Dari 37 pasien tumor intrakranial, usia rata-rata adalah 51,81±11,49 tahun, mayoritas subjek berjenis kelamin laki-laki yaitu 19 orang (51,4%). Mayoritas tumor (67,6%) merupakan tumor metastasis dengan metastasis terbanyak berasal dari paru (40,5%). Terdapat perbedaan rerata kadar trombosit, kadar leuksoit dan RNL yang bermakna sebelum dan setelah pemberian injeksi deksametason pada pasien tumor intrakranial (p<0,05). Kesimpulan: Pemberian injeksi deksametason mempengaruhi kadar trombosit, leukosit dan RNL pada pasien tumor intrakranial.en_US
