Perlocutionary Acts Found in “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” Movie

Abstract

The title of this thesis is Perlocutionary Acts Found In “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” Movie. Perlocutionary act is hearer’s behavioural respons to the meaning of utterances, the act of causing a certain effect on the hearer and the other. This thesis find out types of Perlocutionary Acts and the most frequent Perlocutionary Acts of main character in ―How to Train your Dragon: The Hidden World‖ movie. This study used Yule’s theory that classified perlocutionary acts into 5 types. They are Representatives, Directives, Commisives, Expressives, and. Declaratives. This study is descriptive qualitative. Based on the research finding, there are four types of perlocutionary acts which are used in the movie. The frequency of the most dominant type of the data classified as follows, there are from 36 data. And types of the perlocutionary acts occurs dominantly in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Movie is Representative which represent 19 cases (53%).

Judul skripsi ini adalah Tindakan Perlokusi yang ditemukan dalam “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”. Tindakan perlokusi adalah respon perilaku pendengar terhadap makna ucapan, tindakan yang menyebabkan efek tertentu pada pendengar dan lainnya. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tindakan perlokusi dan tindakan perlokusi yang paling sering dilakukan oleh tokoh utama dalam film ―How to Train your Dragon: The Hidden World‖. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Yule yang mengklasifikasikan tindakan perlokusi menjadi 5 jenis yaitu Representatives, Directive, Commisives, Expressives, dan. Deklaratif. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat empat jenis perlokusi yang digunakan dalam film. Berdasarkan 36 data, jenis perlokusi dominan terjadi dalam How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Movie adalah Representative yang mewakili 19 kasus (53%).
