This thesis entitled “Lexical Density and Grammatical Intricacy in the political articles of Jakarta Post Newspaper” discusses the complexity of grammar and lexical density. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The theory used to analyze the data are theory proposed by Ure and Vinh To (2013) to calculate the lexical density level and Eggins (2004) to calculate the grammatical intricacy level. The results of data analysis show that in five political articles LD and GI in articles ―What is Next for Ahok‖(text1) are 52.69% and 1.06, ―Myanmar picks panel to fix constitution‖ (text 2) are 50.59%% and 1.16, ―Lawmakers may drop labor cluster from Indonesia's jobs bill to meet August deadline‖(text 3) are 52.11% and 1.13, ―Backroom bargain: House holds closed meeting on job creation bill‖(text 4) are 48.75% and 1.06, ― ‗Just catching up‟: Anies visits Rizieq Shihab despite quarantine rule News Desk‖ (text 5) are 57.20% and 1.37. In these five political articles the level of lexical density in text is high and grammatical intricacy is low. Thus, political articles are classified as written texts. Skripsi yang berjudul “Lexical Density and Grammatical Intricacy in the political articles of Jakarta Post Newspaper” membahas tentang kerumitan tata bahasa dan kepadatan leksikal. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa dalam kelima artikel politik GI dan LD pada artikel ―What is Next for Ahok‖(teks 1) yaitu 52.69% dan 1.06, ―Myanmar picks panel to fix constitution‖ (teks 2) yaitu 50.59%% dan 1.16, ―Lawmakers may drop labor cluster from Indonesia's jobs bill to meet August deadline‖(teks 3) yaitu 52.11% dan 1.13, ―Backroom bargain: House holds closed meeting on job creation bill‖(teks 4) yaitu 48.75% dan 1.06, ― ‗Just catching up‟: Anies visits Rizieq Shihab despite quarantine rule News Desk‖ (teks 5) yaitu 57.20% dan 1.37. Dalam kelima artikel politik tersebut tingkat kepadatan leksikal dalam teks tinggi dan tingkat kerumitan tata bahasa rendah. Dengan demikian, artikel politik diklasifikasikan sebagai teks tertulis.
