Derivational Affixes in the Articles of Jakarta Post Newspaper

Abstract

This thesis entitled ‘Derivational Affixes in the Articles of Jakarta Post’.This research is concerned on the analysis of derivational affixes in the Jakarta Post articles.The objectives of this research are to find out the forms of derivational affixes in the Jakarta Post articles and the differences. The research is qualitative descriptive method.The objects of this thesis are three rticles in Jakarta Post published on Monday, 18th May 2020. Method of data collection were library research and observation. The result of this thesis shows that the researcher found two kinds of derivational affixes, they were prefix and suffix.Total of derivational affixes in the three selected of Jakarta Post newspaper articles is 191. There are 38 in the article one, 55 in the article two, and 98 in the article three. There are 3 prefixes and 35 suffixes in the article one, 8 prefixes and 47 suffixes in the article two, and the last article found 9 prefixes and 89 suffixes.The differences in using derivational affixes can be seen in total of derived word which consist of derived word with noun form were found 20 words in the article one (20 suffixes), 26 words in the article two (25 suffixes,1 prefixes), and 63 words in the article three (61 suffixes, 2 prefixes).The derived word with form Adjective found were 12 words in the article one (3 prefix, 9 suffix), 11 words in the article two (11 suffixes), meanwhile 26 words in the article three (3 prefix, 23 suffix ). The derived word with verb form were not found in the article one, in the article two found 9 words (7 prefix, 2 suffix) , and 4 words in the article three (3 prefixes, 1 suffixes). The derived word with form Adverb found were 6 words in the article one (6 suffixes) , 9 words in the article two (9 suffixes , and 5 words in the article three (1 prefix, 4 suffix).

Skripsi ini berjudul 'Derivational Affixes in the Articles of Jakarta Post'. Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis afiksasi derivasi pada artikel-artikel Jakarta Post. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk-bentuk imbuhan derivasi pada artikel-artikel Jakarta Post dan perbedaannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah tiga artikel di Jakarta Post yang diterbitkan pada hari Senin tanggal 18 Mei 2020. Metode pengumpulan data adalah studi pustaka dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peneliti menemukan dua macam imuhan derivasi yaitu prefiks dan sufiks. Jumlah afiksasi derevasi pada tiga artikel pilihan di surat kabar Jakarta Post adalah 191. Ada 38 afiksasi di artikel satu, 55 di artikel dua, dan 98 di artikel tiga. Ada 3 prefiks dan 35 sufiks pada artikel satu, 8 prefiks dan 47 sufiks pada artike dua, dan pada artikel terakhir ditemukan 9 prefiks dan 89 sufiks. Perbedaan penggunaan afiksasi derivasi dapat dilihat pada jumlah kata turunan yang terdiri dari kata turunan berbentuk kata benda ditemukan 20 kata pada artikel satu (20 sufiks), 26 kata pada artike dua (25 sufiks, 1 prefiks), dan 63 kata pada artike tiga (61 sufiks, 2 prefiks). Kata turunan yang berbentuk kata sifat yang ditemukan ada 12 kata pada artikel satu (3 prefiks, 9 sufiks), 11 kata pada artikel dua (11 sufiks), sedangkan pada artikel tiga sebanyak 26 kata (3 prefiks, 23 sufiks). Kata turunan berbentuk kata kerja tidak ditemukan pada artikel satu, pada pasal dua ditemukan 9 kata (7 prefiks, 2 sufiks), dan 4 kata pada pasal tiga (3 prefiks, 1 sufiks). Kata turunan dengan bentuk kata keterangan yang ditemukan ada 6 kata pada artikel satu (6 sufiks), 9 kata pada artikel dua (9 sufiks), dan 5 kata pada artikel tiga (1 prefiks, 4 sufiks)
