dc.description.abstractThe provision of compost from Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (OPEFB) by Addition of of various doses of boiler ash is expected to optimize the utilization of palm oil mill effluent to increase the fertility of Ultisols and increase the growth of corn plants. This study aims to determine the use of OPEFB compost and boiler ash to improve soil chemical properties and growth of maize (Zea mays L.) on Ultisol soil, carried out on the land at Pasar 1, Tanjung Sari, Medan Selayang subdistrict and soil analysis at the Research Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera, starting from October 2019 to completion. This study used a non-factorial randomized block design consisting of 7 levels of treatment K0 (control), K1 : (100 g OPEFB compost + 5 g boiler ash ), K2( 100 g OPEFB compost + 10 g boiler ash), K3( 100 g OPEFB compost + 15 g boiler ash), K4 (100 g OPEFB compost + 20 g boiler ash), K5 (100 g OPEFB compost + 25 boiler ash), K6 (100 g OPEFB compost + 30 g boiler ash). The treatment was repeated 4 (four) times. The results of this study indicate that the application of TKKS compost enriched with various doses of boiler ash can, increase pH, levels of C-organic, N-total, and K-exchange of Ultisol soil, but, can’t increase KTK of Ultisols and the growth of corn plants.en_US
dc.description.abstractPemberian kompos Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) dengan penambahan berbagai dosis abu boiler diharapkan dapat mengoptimalkan pemnafaatan limbah pabrik kelapa sawit untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah Ultisol dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman jagung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan kompos TKKS dan abu boiler terhadap perbaikan sifat kimia tanah dan pertumbuhan tanaman jagung ( Zea mays L. ) pada tanah Ultisol, dilaksanakan di lahan Jalan Pasar 1, Tanjung Sari, Kecamatan Medan Selayang dan analisis tanah di Laboratorium Riset, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, mulai dari bulan Oktober 2019 sampai dengan selesai. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Non- Faktorial yang terdiri dari 7 taraf perlakuan K0 (control ), K1 : (100 g kompos TKKS + 5 g abu boiler ), K2( 100 g kompos TKKS + 10 g abu boiler), K3( 100 g kompos TKKS + 15 g abu boiler), K4 (100 g kompos TKKS + 20 g abu boiler), K5 (100 g kompos TKKS + 25 g abu boiler), K6 (100 g kompos TKKS + 30 g abu boiler). Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 ( Empat ) kali. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahw pemberian kompos TKKS yang diperkaya berbagia dosis abu boiler meningkatkan pH, kadar C-organik, N-total, dan K-tukar tanah Ultisol. namun, tidak meningkatkan KTK tanah Ultisol dan pertumbuhan tanaman jagung.en_US
