A Conversation Analysis on the Interview between Agnez Monica and Host in “Build Talk Show”

The aim of the study is to determine what aspects of conversational interactions are realized in the conversation, as well as to analyze how and why those aspects of conversational interactions are realized. In conducting this research, the researcher uses documentation method in collecting the data and applied qualitative analysis in analyzing the aspects of conversational interactions. The data of this research are the utterances, while the source of data is a video of the interview between the interviewer (Kevan Kenney) and interviewee (Agnez Mo) in Build Talk Show which downloaded from official Youtube channel of Build Talk Show with the duration 27:03 minutes. The data are analyzed based on the theory of Conversation Analysis that proposed by Paltridge. The results of this research are, the interviewer (Kevan Kenney) employed the aspects of conversational interactions in giving and responding the questions to interviewee. The aspects of conversational interactions such as Opening Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, Preference Organization, Turn Taking and Feedback are used. While, Closing Conversation and Repair are not used by interviewer throughout the conversation. On the other hand, the interviewee use Turn Taking, Feedback and Repair. But Opening and Closing Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, and Preference Organization does not use by interviewee throughout the conversation. So, five of seven aspects of conversational interactions in conversation are applied. Those aspects of conversational interactions are realized in the conversation with different characteristics. Closing Conversation and Repair are not used by the interviewer, while Opening and Closing Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, and Preference Organization are not used by the interviewee. Those aspects of conversational interactions are realized in this conversation because it is the standard in conversation and the interviewer and interviewee applied the aspects of conversational interactions in order to seek the information from the interviewee, to give the clarification of the issues and to make a good communication in that conversation. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aspek-aspek interaksi percakapan yang diwujudkan dalam pembicaraan, serta menganalisis bagaimana dan mengapa aspek-aspek interaksi percakapan tersebut diwujudkan. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode dokumentasi dalam mengumpulkan data dan menerapkan analisis kualitatif dalam menganalisis aspek interaksi percakapan. Data dari penelitian ini adalah ucapan, sedangkan sumber data adalah video wawancara antara pewawancara (Kevan Kenney) dan narasumber (Agnez Mo) dalam Build Talk Show yang diunduh dari channel Youtube resmi Build Talk Show dengan durasi. 27:03 menit. Data dianalisis berdasarkan teori Analisis Percakapan yang diusulkan oleh Paltridge. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pewawancara (Kevan Kenney) menggunakan aspek interaksi percakapan dalam memberikan dan menanggapi pertanyaan kepada narasumber. Aspek interaksi percakapan seperti Opening Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, Preference Organization, Turn Taking, Feedback, dan Repair digunakan sepanjang percakapan. Sedangkan Closing Conversation and Repair tidak digunakan oleh pewawancara selama percakapan. Di sisi lain, orang yang diwawancarai menggunakan Turn Taking, Feedback, dan Repair. Tetapi Opening dan Closing Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, dan Preference Organization tidak digunakan oleh orang yang diwawancarai selama percakapan. Jadi, lima dari tujuh aspek interaksi percakapan digunakan. Aspek interaksi percakapan tersebut diwujudkan dengan karakteristik yang berbeda. Closing Conversation dan Repair tidak digunakan oleh pewawancara, sementara Opening dan Closing Conversation, Adjacency Pairs, dan Preference Organization tidak digunakan oleh narasumber. Aspek interaksi percakapan ini diwujudkan dalam percakapan merupakan standar dalam percakapan dan pewawancara serta narasumber menerapkan aspek-aspek interaksi percakapan untuk mengumpulkan informasi dari narasumber, memberikan klarifikasi masalah dan membuat komunikasi yang baik dalam percakapan.
