This thesis entitles “A Critical Discourse Analysis of Hillary Clinton’s Tweets in Twitter” is a study about critical discourse analysis of Hillary’s tweets as the data. This thesis examines Critical Discourse Analysis in Hillary Clinton tweets in tweeter on 19 and 21 November 2019 and 4 February 2020. These tweets discuss a number of transgender issues in order to allow for equality for transgender in USA. This is conducted with special focus on the socio-cognitive approach as the main framework adopted in the analysis and its emphasis on cognitive context models and the using of words by using Van Dijk’s CDA theory. For data analysis, a sample of Hillary’s tweets has been collected on one topic: transgender issue. Using a three-levelled analysis, the posts at hand have been examined from textual, socio-cognitive and social context perspectives. The textual level consists of macrostructure analysis, superstructure analysis and microstructure analysis while the socio-cognitive level ties in all these descriptive findings to offer interpretations and insight into relevant mental representations. The findings show the point of the local and global semantics of Hillary’s tweets, to provide arguments to support transgender community. Is of course a strategic implementation of the overall, pragmatic purpose of her intervention, to stand by trans people. That is, the coherent selection of negative words to express negative opinions about discrimination towards transgender from the society.en_US
