Analisa Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Permintaan Komoditi Kopi di Sumatera Utara

Abstract

This research is aimed to know the factors influencing demand for commodity coffee in North Sumatera. Especially this research is aimed to analyse the influence of domestic coffee price, price expectation of coffee domestic, tea price, sugar price and per capita income on demand for commodity coffee in North Sumatera. The research used secondary data in the form of time series data in the period 1985-2005, obtained from BPS North Sumatera, Industry and Commerce Department North Sumatera, and the method used is Ordinary Least Squarer Method (OLS). The result finds that factors which has significant influence on demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera are domestic coffee price, price expectation of coffee domestic, sugar price and per capita income with significant level 95 percent. The coefficient determination (R2) 96,91 percent. Partially, the result indicates that domestic coffee price have negatively effect on demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera, tea price have a positively effect on demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera, sugar price have a negatively effect on demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera and per capita income both positively having an effect to demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera, meanwhile price expectation of coffee domestic have an effect on demand of commodity coffee in North Sumatera negatively, it’s meaning if price expectation decrease hence demand of commodity coffee by consumer will increase. According to result finding the research suggested that by all farmers coffee in North Sumatera try to increase product and remain holding the quality of coffee. The Government of Province North Sumatera require to assist all coffee farmers by giving incentive weather is in the form of capital loan or providing of facilities in order to increase the coffee product in North Sumatera, so it can expand in domestic market even penetrate exporting market.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara. Secara khusus bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh harga kopi domestik, harga ekspektasi kopi domestik, harga teh, harga gula dan pendapatan perkapita terhadap permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder berupa data time series tahun 1985–2005, yang bersumber dari BPS Sumatera Utara, Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Sumatera Utara dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode Ordinary Least Squarer (OLS) dengan menggunakan Model Koyck (model ekspektasi). Berdasarkan hasil estimasi, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa faktor-faktor yang signifikan mempengaruhi permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara ialah harga kopi domestik, harga ekspektasi kopi domestik, harga gula dan pendapatan perkapita pada tingkat kepercayaan 95% dengan koefisien determinasi (R2) sebesar 96,91%. Secara parsial hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa harga kopi domestik berpengaruh negatif terhadap permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara, harga teh (barang substitusi) berpengaruh positif terhadap permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara, harga gula (barang komplementer) berpengaruh negatif terhadap permintaan komoditit kopi di Sumatera Utara dan pendapatan perkapita berpengaruh positif terhadap permintaan komoditi kopi Sumatera Utara, sementara itu harga ekspektasi kopi domestik berpengaruh negatif terhadap permintaan komoditi kopi di Sumatera Utara, artinya jika harga ekspektasi turun maka permintaan komoditi kopi oleh konsumen akan meningkat. Sesuai dengan hasil penelitian tersebut disarankan agar para petani kopi di Sumatera Utara berusaha meningkatkan produksi dan tetap menjaga kualitas kopi yang dihasilkan. Pemerintah Propinsi Sumatera Utara perlu membantu para petani kopi dengan memberikan insentif (rangsangan) apakah berupa pinjaman modal atau penyediaan sarana dan prasarana dalam upaya peningkatan produksi kopi di Sumatera Utara, sehingga mampu menguasai pasar domestik bahkan menembus pasar ekspor (luar negeri).
