Google Scholar dan Pemenuhan Informasi Penelitian (Studi Korelasional Pengaruh Google Scholar Terhadap Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Informasi Penelitian di Kalangan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU)

Abstract

The title of this research is "Google Scholar and the Fulfillment of Research Information (Correlational Study of Google Scholar Effect on the Fulfillment of Research Information Needs for the Students of Communication Science in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science at the University of North Sumatera). The purposes of the reasearch are to know the use of Google Scholar site and the effect of it as the needs of research information by the students of Communication Science. The relevant theories for this research are communication, mass communication, internet, Google Scholar, satisfaction, uses, and gratifications. There are 53 students of Communicaton Science as the population of this research who are conducting some research for thesis by using Google Scholar. Sample determination used total sampling technique. Data collection was taken by doing field research and library research. While data analysis is made by using single table analysis, cross table analysis, and hypothesis testing by way of Spearman correlation coefficient formula with SPSS program version 16.0. The result of hypothesis testing was 0.679, it meant that H0 rejected and Ha accepted in this research. Ha is the relation between google scholar site as the fulfillment of research information for the students of Communication Science in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science at theUniversity of North Sumatera.

Penelitian ini berjudul “Google Scholar dan Pemenuhan Informasi Penelitian (Studi Korelasional Pengaruh Google Scholar terhadap Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Informaasi Penelitian di Kalangan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU). Sebuah studi korelasional yang bertujuan mengetahui penggunaan situs google scholar oleh mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP USU, mengetahui kebutuhan informasi penelitian dan mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan situs google scholar terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi penelitian. Teori yang dianggap relevan dalam penelitian ini adalah Komunikasi, Komunikasi Massa, Internet, Google Scholar, Kepuasan dan Uses and gratifications. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi yang sedang melaksanakan penelitian untuk skripsi dan menggunakan google scholar sebagai informasi penelitian berjumlah 53 orang. Penentuan sampel mengunakan teknik total sampling.. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penelitian lapangan (field research) dan penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Sedangkan analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis tabel tunggal, analisis tabel silang, dan uji hipotesis melalui rumus koefisien korelasi tata jenjang oleh spearman dengan menggunakan program SPSS versi 16.0. Hasil uji hipotesa memperoleh angka 0,679, artinya H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima pada penelitian ini. Ha adalah terdapat hubungan antara situs google scholar terhadap pemenuhan informasi penelitian di kalangan mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Sumatera Utara.
