    Pengaruh Aditif Serbuk Kayu dalam Pembuatan keramik Berpori untuk Digunakan sebagai Filter Gas Buang

    Abstract
    This research means to see the effect of the wood particle as additive in making the porous ceramic to be used as exhaust gases filter. The composition of basic ceramic substance that used caolin 30%, feldsfar 30%, clay 20%, kuarsa 20% and wood particle additive with the various composition 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 30%. All of the substances have a measurement of 100 mesh hat curved became sample with foundry shape cylinder, and it used slip casting method. And then burned with temperature 1000C. The sample has already burning ready to have test the porosity, density, pressure, XRD analysis and exhaust gases absorbtion. From the measurement result showed the porosity between 26,13% - 59,40% ; Average density between 0,658 – 1,363 gr/cm3, pressure 2,553 N/m2 – 11,447 N/m2, hardness (HV) 94 – 140 MPa and radical gases absorbtion CO 14,76 – 29,73%, CO2 27,85 – 26,09%, HC 0,31 – 17,86%. From the few sample optimum condition was composition 30% wood particle with temperature 1100 C.
     
    Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk melihat pengaruh aditif serbuk kayu damar dalam pembuatan keramik berpori untuk digunakan sebagai filter gas buang. Komposisi bahan dasar keramik yang digunakan kaolin 30%, feldsfar 30%, clay 20% dan kuarsa 20% serta aditif serbuk kayu damar dengan berbagai komposisi 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% dan 30%. Semua bahan berukuran 100 mesh dibentuk menjadi sampel berbentuk silinder dengan cara pengecoran dan kemudian dibakar dengan suhu 11000C. Sampel yang telah dibakar siap untuk diuji meliputi porositas, densitas, kekerasan, kuat tekan, analisa XRD dan absorsi gas buang. Dari hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa porositas berkisar antara 26,13% - 59,40%; densitas antara 0,658 – 1,363 gr/cm3; kuat tekan 2,533 – 11,447 N/m2; kekerasan 94 – 140 Mpa dan absorbsi gas radikal CO 14,76 – 29,73%; CO2 27,85 – 26,09%; HC 0,31 – 17,86%. Dari beberapa sampel yang dibuat ternyata kondisi optimum adalah komposisi 30% serbuk kayu damar dengan suhu 1100 C.
