    Karakterisasi Ijuk pada Papan Komposit Ijuk Serat Pendek sebagai Perisai Radiasi Neutron

    Abstract
    Palmyra had been characterized at short palmyra fiber composite board to find out that palmira composite board could be used for neutron radiation shield. The observation got : palmyra’s fiber density was 1,136 gr/cm3, the chemical contain were water content 8,90 %, cellulose 51,54 %, hemicellulose 15,88 % ; lignin 43,09 % and ash 2,54 %, Neutron Activation Analisist (AAN) used to find the metal unseres of palmyra, got : Cl-38, Mn-56, K-42, Br-82, La-140, Cr-51, Fe-59, Hg 203 Sc-46 dan Zn-65. Impact strenght at the short palmyra fiber composite board didn’t influence with fiber mass but the long of the fiber and the absorbtion short palmyra fiber composite board for neutron didn’t influence with the long of the fiber but the fiber mass
     
    Telah dilakukan karakterisasi serat ijuk pada papan komposit ijuk serat pendek untuk mengetahui apakah papan komposit ijuk serat pendek dapat digunakan sebagai perisai radiasi neutron. Dari karakteristik serat ijuk yang dilakukan diperoleh massa jenis serat ijuk 1,136 gram/cm3, kandungan kimia berupa kadar air 8,90 % ; selulosa 51,54 % ; hemiselulosa 15,88 % ; lignin 43,09 % dan abu 2,54 % dan dari pengujian kandungan unsur serat ijuk yang menggunakan Analisis Aktivasi Neutron (AAN) diperoleh kandungan unsur : Cl-38, Mn-56, K-42, Br-82, La-140, Cr-51, Fe-59, Hg 203 Sc-46 dan Zn-65. Pada pengujian papan komposit diperoleh bahwa kekuatan impak tidak dipengaruhi massa serat tetapi panjang serat sedangkan daya serap papan komposit ijuk terhadap neutron tidak tergantung panjang serat tetapi massa serat
