dc.description.abstractA study to control of Basal Stem Rot (Ganoderma boninense Pat.) on the palm oil seedling (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) using local chitinolitic bacteria has been done in Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Department, Mathematic and Natural Sciences Faculty, North Sumatera University, from February to July 2011. The purpose of the research was to study the ability of local chitinolitic isolated from Bangka, Langkat and Karo LK08, KR05, BK13, BK17, and BK15 to inhibit the growth of G. boninense on the palm oil seedling. Antagonistic test showed that the most effective bacteria in inhibiting the growth of G. boninense was BK17 with inhibiting zone of 12,63 mm, whereas the least effective bacteria was BK15, with inhibition zone of 8,05mm. Disease incidences was higher in control (20%) compared to bacterial treatments. Less disease incidence was found in treatments of BK17 and KR05(4%). Microscopic observation showed that G. boninense hyphae was abnormal i. e. lysis, curved, rolled and dwarf due to the fungus.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian tentang Pengendalian Serangan Busuk Pangkal Batang (Ganoderma boninense Pat.) pada bibit tanaman kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) mengggunakan isolat bakteri kitinolitik telah dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Departemen Biologi FMIPA USU dari bulan Februari 2011 sampai dengan Juli 2011. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi bakteri kitinolitik lokal yang diisolasi dari Bangka, Langkat dan Karo yaitu LK08, KR05, BK13, BK17, dan BK15 dalam menghambat pertumbuhan jamur G. boninense yang terdapat pada bibit kelapa sawit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan BK17 memiliki efektivitas paling tinggi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan G. boninense dengan jari-jari zona hambat sebesar 12,63 mm, sedangkan efektifitas terendah ditunjukkan oleh isolat BK15, dengan jari-jari zona hambat sebesar 8,05 mm. Luas serangan paling rendah terdapat pada BK17 dan KR05 yaitu sebesar 4% sedangkan paling tinggi pada kontrol positif yaitu sebesar 20%. Pengamatan mikroskopis menunjukkan bahwa G. boninense mengalami keabnormalan hifa dicirikan pada hifa G. boninense mengalami lisis, hifa membengkok dan hifa menggulung.en_US
