    Abstract
Background. Major achievements in congenital heart disease treatment over the past 20 years have altered the course and prognosis of CHD. Improvement of Quality of Life (QoL) is now a major goal of CHD treatment. Objective. To assess the QoL in children after cardiac surgery for CHD. Methods. A cross-sectional study was performed in children between the age of 2 to 18 years. Twenty postoperative children were compared with 20 healthy children. The QoL of both group was assessed by Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Generic Core Scales. We also assessed postoperative children with PedsQL Cardiac Module. Results. PedsQL Generic Core Scales assessment showed significant differences in physical segment of QoL (P < 0.05) in children age 13-18 years, while there were no significant differences in social, emotional, and school segment. There were no significant differences in physical, social, emotional, and school segment of QoL in children age 2-12 years. PedsQL Cardiac Module assessment results showed that some post operative children had emotional and social problems. Conclusion. Physical segment of QoL in post cardiac surgery children age 13-18 years was lower than healthy children. Post cardiac surgery children are at risks for emotional and social problems.

Latar Belakang. Penilaian kualitas hidup Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Generic Core Scales versi 4.0.
