    Efek Penambahan Boron terhadap Mikrostruktur, Sifat Fisis, dan Magnetik Barium Heksaferit

    Abstract
    Study effect of B2O3 addition of Barium hexaferrite material (BaFe12O19) commercial powder mixing with dry milling method using the High Energy Milling through the process of mechanical alloying for 48 hours. Variables research is concentration B2O3 as additive, Boron substitution in Barium hexaferrite (BaFe12O19) is 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 %wt and the sintering temperature 1100, 1150, and 1200oC held for 1 hour. Observed magnitudes include particle size, true density, porosity, bulk density, flux density, hysteresis curves, microstructure analysis by XRD, SEM, and XRF and thermal analysist with Dilatometer. Distribution of particle size using Particle Size Analyzer (PSA, and the addition of B2O3 can reduce the particle size of barium hexaferrite ie 72.29% of its initial size. The best sintering temperature is 1100oC. In this study identification of the X-ray Difraction (XRD) Barium hexaferrite have a single structure BaFe12O19, morphology of Barium hexaferrite relatively homogeneous with a particle size is 0.375 - 2.75 μm. Porosity of Barium hexaferrite magnets <8%, bulk density ranges from 3.66 – 4.18 g/cm3, the magnetic flux density ranges from 463.9 - 832.5 Gauss, remanensi Br 1.64 – 2.28 kGauss, coercivity HCB 2.11 - 2.85 kOe and BHmax 0.30 to 2.18 MGOe. The best conditions in this study is 0.5 %wt B2O3 aid.
     
    Pada penelitan ini telah dilakukan studi efek penambahan B2O3 pada material Barium heksaferit (BaFe12O19) serbuk komersial pencampuran dilakukan dengan metode dry milling menggunakan High Energy Milling melalui proses mechanical alloying selama 48 jam. Variabel penelitian yang dilakukan adalah kosentrasi B2O3 sebagai subsitusi aditif Boron pada bahan Barium hexaferrite (BaFe12O19) sebanyak 0, 0.5, 1.0,dan 2,0 % berat serta suhu sintering 1100, 1150, dan1200oC yang masing-masing ditahan selama 1 jam. Besaran-besaran yang diamati meliputi ukuran partikel, true density, porositas, bulk density, flux density, kurva histerisis, analisa mikrostruktur dengan XRD, SEM, dan μXRF serta uji termal material tersebut dengan menggunakan Dilatometer. Dari hasil pengamatan ukuran partikel menggunakan Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) dengan penambahan B2O3 dapat memperkecil ukuran partikel Barium heksaferit yaitu 72.29% dari ukuran awalnya. Suhu sintering terbaik diperoleh adalah 1100oC. Hasil identifikasi pola sinar-X (XRD) Barium heksaferit dalam penelitian ini memiliki struktur tunggal BaFe12O19. Morfologinya relatif homogen dengan bentuk partikel menyerupai batang dengan ukuran partikel 0.375 - 2.75 μm. Magnet Barium heksaferit relatif padat dengan porositas < 8%, bulk density berkisar 3.66 – 4.18 g/cm3, flux density magnetik berkisar 463.9 – 832.5 Gauss, remanensi Br 1.64 - 2.28 kGauss, koersivitas HCB 2.11 – 2.85 kOe dan BHmax 0.30 - 2.18 MGOe. Kondisi terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah penambahan B2O3 sebesar 0.5 % berat.
