    Hubungan Obesitas dengan Gangguan Mood pada Remaja Putri

    Abstract
    Background : Obesity starts to become a health problem around the world. WHO has reported obesity as a global epidemic, which causes the decrease of life quality. During the last 30 years, there has been a significant increase of obesity in children and adolescents which sparks medical and psychological consequences . It is known that obesity occurs in older women, tend to have mood disorders, where as in female adolescents this trend has not been proven. Objective : To determine the relationship between obesity and mood disorders in female adolescents in Medan. Methods : This study was a cross sectional analytic study using statistical correlation analysis method of the female adolescents with obesity who experience mood disorders at four private junior and senior high schools in Medan. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique . Body Mass Index (BMI) and Mood Disorder Quetioner (MDQ) were used as a research instrument. Result : 46 young women with obesity and 46 non-obesity young women from 4 private schools were recruited by random. Based on the relationship of obesity with Mood Disorder Quetioner (MDQ) category, there were 29 respondents (63%) with mood disorders in the obesity group and 2 respondents (4,3%) with mood disorders in non-obesity group, with score p < 0.05 Conclusion : There is a relationship between obesity and mood disorders at four private junior and senior high schools in Medan.
     
    Latar Belakang : Obesitas mulai menjadi masalah kesehatan di seluruh dunia . WHO telah melaporkan obesitas sebagai epidemiologi global, yang menyebabkan penurunan kualitas hidup. Selama 30 tahun terakhir, telah terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan dari obesitas pada anak-anak dan remaja yang memicu konsekuensi medis dan psikologis . Diketahui jika obesitas terjadi pada wanita dewasa, mereka cenderung mengalami gangguan mood, sedangkan pada remaja putri kecendrungan ini belum terbukti Tujuan : untuk mengetahui hubungan obesitas dengan gangguan mood pada remaja putri di kota Medan. Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan bentuk cross sectional menggunakan metode analisis korelasional statistik terhadap siswi obesitas yang mengalami gangguan mood di 4 sekolah swasta di Medan. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Body Mass Index (BMI) dan Mood Disorder Quetioner (MDQ) digunakan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Hasil : Secara random diambil 46 siswi obesitas dari 4 sekolah dan 46 siswi yang non obesitas sebagai kontrol. Dari kelompok yang obesitas dijumpai 29 responden (63%) mengalami gangguan mood dan 2 responden (4,3%) dari kelompok non obesitas yang mengalami gangguan mood.(p < 0.05) Kesimpulan : Didapatkan hubungan antara obesitas dengan gangguan mood pada siswi di 4 sekolah Swasta di Medan.
