The aim of the study is to describe the speech errors that occur on the Video Podcast Get Real
Giving Thanks With Sam Kim Ep 22, as well as to find out the causes of the speech errors.
The researcher collects data using the documentation method and applies qualitative analysis
to describe and determine the causes of speech errors in this study.The data of this research is
the utterances, while the source of data is a video podcast between the hosts (Ashley and BM)
and guest (Sam Kim) in the Get Real by DIVE Studios podcast which is downloaded from the
official DIVE Studios Youtube channel with a duration of 46 minutes. Data are described
based on the theory of Clark & Clark (1977). According to the findings of the study, Ashley's
host (host) makes a total of 9 types of speech errors with a total of 47 errors, BM (host) makes
8 types of speech errors and does not make mistakes in types of stutters, with a total of 80
errors, and Sam (guest) makes a total of 9 types of speech errors with a total of 106
errors.Also, the causes of the speech errors are due to internal and external factors such as
nervousness, hesitation, haste, and not concentrating. The total number of speech errors made
by speakers was 233 errors. And based on the results of these speech errors, it is found that
the speakers on the video podcast generate repeats as the most frequent error, 52 times.
Follow by filled pause 46 times, silent pause 41 times, interjections 37 times, false starts
(unretraced) 14 times, corrections 13 times, stutters 13 times, slip of the tongue 11 times, and
false starts (retraced) 6 times. Also, there are 4 causes of speech errors during the video
podcast.
